Miles White Beneficial Society of Baltimore City

The Miles White Beneficial Society of Baltimore City was founded and incorporated in 1874 with a bequest from Miles White, a member of the Eutaw Street Quaker Meeting. The Miles White Beneficial Society aims to:

  • identify and support organizations that address long-standing historical inequities by providing essential services to residents in communities in Baltimore City
  • support young people in developing intellectual and spiritual strength to advance social justice in the city of Baltimore.
  • support forward-thinking activities that stimulate the pursuit of equity and justice in the city of Baltimore.

2024 Miles White Beneficial Society of Baltimore Organizational Grant Announcement

The Miles White Beneficial Society of Baltimore City (MWBS) is now accepting applications from non-profit organizations for grants of up to $5,000. The MWBS is a 501(c)(3) organization affiliated with the Baltimore Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).  Preference for 2024 organizational grants will be given to applicant organizations that promote social justice in the City of Baltimore.   We give grants of up to $5,000 to Baltimore City based organizations who run projects or programs designed to meet the basic human needs of the residents of Baltimore City, or that provide educational or enrichment programs to young people in Baltimore City, or  organizations that support a project that involves forward-thinking, innovative strategies in the pursuit of equity and justice in the City of Baltimore and a new approach to addressing social justice issues.  For purposes of this application, an organization promotes social justice if it increases equity and opportunity.

Please clearly indicate on your application which type of grant your organization is applying for.  APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED ON or BEFORE MARCH 8TH 2024.  For more details, please visit www.mileswhite.org.

2024 Miles White Beneficial Society College Scholarship Applications

The Miles White Beneficial Society of Baltimore City has college scholarship opportunities for young people.  We support undergraduate college and post-secondary vocational education students who are academically successful and working to make a difference in their communities.
