Welcome to Baltimore Yearly Meeting!
Baltimore Yearly Meeting builds and nurtures a strong and vibrant Quaker community across the Mid-Atlantic. We seek to build community, grow in the life of the spirit, discern right action, and bear witness in the world. BYM includes Quaker meetings in parts of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The BYM Office, located in Sandy Spring, MD, provides technical support to local Quaker Meetings and opportunities for Quakers in our region to work, play, serve, learn, and grow spiritually together as Friends.
There will be a called Interim Meeting on the 20th of April at 1:30 pm (via Zoom) to discuss and hopefully approve Peace and Social Concerns Committee's recent minute on Ceasefire between Israel and Palestine. The minute received a first reading at Winter Interim Meeting on March 23rd, and Friends present agreed that the matter was too urgent to lay over until June Interim Meeting for a second reading. A Memorial Meeting for Worship will be held via Zoom to honor the life of David Zarembka on April 24 at 1:00 p.m. Note that the Zoom link will open at 12:30 p.m. with rotating pictures from his life. David and his wife, Gladys Kamonya, both died within a week of each other in western Kenya of COVID. Memorial meetings were held there in their honor in Kenya. There are wonderful tributes from FUM staff in Kenya and the US and other background information in the links below. There is a Memorial Meeting for both David and Gladys at St. Louis Friends Meeting on May 8.
