Baltimore Yearly Meeting is the regional organizing unit for the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in the area of central Pennsylvania, Maryland, parts of West Virginia, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. It is through membership in a Yearly Meeting that individual Quakers become connected with the larger Quaker movement worldwide. Join Baltimore Yearly Meeting’s Indian Affairs Committee for a festival of information, dance, food, and more. This event is for people of all ages, and seeks to raise awareness of indigenous peoples who once were the sole residents of this land. 220,000 people in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania are Native Americans – 1% of the population. There are 11 recognized tribes in Virginia (7 are federally recognized) and 3 state recognized tribes in Maryland.
