Baltimore Yearly Meeting is the regional organizing unit for the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in the area of central Pennsylvania, Maryland, parts of West Virginia, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. It is through membership in a Yearly Meeting that individual Quakers become connected with the larger Quaker movement worldwide. "In fellowship, in deep listening, in waiting worship, in commitment to each other, it richly rewards those who embrace the challenge of being a Yearly Meeting Friend." (2011 draft Faith and Practice)
Witnessing for Peace to Congress
The Herndon Advocacy Team of the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) is hosting a community wide event to introduce our work. The presentation, featuring Shoshana Abrams, FCNL's National Field Organizer, is from 1:30pm to 2:30pm followed by refreshments. The Herndon Team is one of many teams around the country trained and guided by FCNL to work with Congress, and media outlets to support legislation supporting peace and justice. New members are welcome. For more information, contact Katherine Cole, firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information about FCNL go to FCNL.org.
