Welcome to Baltimore Yearly Meeting!
Baltimore Yearly Meeting builds and nurtures a strong and vibrant Quaker community across the Mid-Atlantic. We seek to build community, grow in the life of the spirit, discern right action, and bear witness in the world. BYM includes Quaker meetings in parts of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The BYM Office, located in Sandy Spring, MD, provides technical support to local Quaker Meetings and opportunities for Quakers in our region to work, play, serve, learn, and grow spiritually together as Friends.
There will be a called Interim Meeting on the 20th of April at 1:30 pm (via Zoom) to discuss and hopefully approve Peace and Social Concerns Committee's recent minute on Ceasefire between Israel and Palestine. The minute received a first reading at Winter Interim Meeting on March 23rd, and Friends present agreed that the matter was too urgent to lay over until June Interim Meeting for a second reading. Join us for fun, food, and fellowship to celebrate William Penn House’s 50 years of service and activism in Washington, DC.
9 AM – Noon: Join a hands-on service project with our urban gardening program, helping to promote food justice in DC neighborhoods. In the tradition of Quaker workcamps, we will honor the light in others, build community and make love visible.
Noon – 1:00 PM: Enjoy a BBQ lunch back at William Penn House with all the fixings.
1:00 – 3:00 PM: Open House - Tour William Penn House and learn about its history of service and activism, complete with a visit from William Penn himself!
Families, individuals, and groups of all ages are welcome. This event is free, but registration is required. Register by Sept. 26 at williampennhouse.org. Space is limited, so register early. Questions? Contact: jessica@williampennhouse.org.
