West River Quaker gathering

BYM is invited to join this historical commemoration at the West River Quaker Burial Ground. This historic site dates back to 1672 and the early settlers of the area. This commemoration connects with this year’s 350th commemoration of Baltimore Yearly Meeting. All are welcome to join. Schedule:
1pm- Welcome & Meeting for Worship
1:30pm-Brief talks on historic significance of the historic Quaker site
- Jim Fussel - On West River (later Balto.)Yearly Meeting Friends facing the tests of slavery & abolition
-Lyndra Marshal & Gertrude Makell - Heritage of African-American families in West River
2:00 pm - Ice cream social & mention of Quaker history in U.S. ice cream popularization (we're not kidding)
2-3pm - Guided Tours of WRQ Burying Ground /historic site

There will be limited space for in-person (COVID permitting) attendance, so we also hope to live-stream and video record the talks for later availability. More info on this to follow.
