Do you feel led to help youth foster a caring and kind space to grow in? Do you want to know more about the Yearly Meeting's Youth Programs? Then this is just your luck! Youth Programs Committee is hosting 2 Friendly Adult Presence trainings for those who are interested.

BYM Youth Programs run 4 weekend retreats (cons) a year for 11-13 year-olds (Junior Young Friends AKA JYFs) and 5 cons for high schoolers (Young Friends AKA YFs). And to make that possible, we rely on Friendly Adult Presences (AKA FAPs who are 21+ years old, and can work with YF or JYF) and FAPs In Training (AKA FITs who are 18-21, and work with JYF). In true Quaker fashion, we're a fan of acronyms.

You can check out the YFs website at http://yf.bym-rsf.net/ and the JYF site at https://www.bym-rsf.org/what_we_do/jyfs/ to see more about the programs. This year we are doing mostly virtual events which means distance doesn't have to stop you from being a part of this community and helping to create space for our youth to grow, thrive, and find themselves! We are also doing some in-person events so if you are in the DMV, consider being trained to join us for those as well. They'll be outside, socially distanced, with masks on.

If any of this is piquing your interest, come join us to be trained as a FAP or a FIT! Register for training with the link below.
