Baltimore Yearly Meeting is the regional organizing unit for the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in the area of central Pennsylvania, Maryland, parts of West Virginia, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. It is through membership in a Yearly Meeting that individual Quakers become connected with the larger Quaker movement worldwide. "In fellowship, in deep listening, in waiting worship, in commitment to each other, it richly rewards those who embrace the challenge of being a Yearly Meeting Friend." (2011 draft Faith and Practice)

Seeks a STRIDE Coordinator
Baltimore Yearly Meeting (BYM) is seeking a Coordinator for its Strengthening Transformative Relationships In Diverse Environments (STRIDE) Program. The STRIDE Program is a volunteer-based program, composed primarily of young adults who have been involved in the BYM camping program and who live in urban communities across the Mid-Atlantic. The program works to actively live out the Quaker values of community and equity by increasing the attendance, participation, ownership, and leadership of people from underrepresented backgrounds at every stage of the BYM camping program. STRIDE Core Groups carry out the work of the program. To date, Core Groups have been active in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, DC, and Charlottesville.

If you took ten steps from your door into nature, what reflections might come up? Watch this slide show about a Unity With Nature project and send us your video BEFORE Annual Session 2019. Instructions appear in the slide show.
Friends World Committee for Consultation invites you to join Quakers around the world to celebrate the 6th annual World Quaker Day on Sunday 6 October. The theme, Sustainability: Planting Seeds of Renewal for the World We Love draws us into our shared experience of earth care and the spiritual imperative to sustain life on earth. It is a chance to celebrate our wonderful diversity of expression, whilst at the same time offering an important opportunity to learn about Friends’ experiences of climate breakdown in other parts of the world. You might consider sharing a sustainability story from your meeting or church with another group of Friends elsewhere in the world and beginning a dialogue. Please visit our website www.worldquakerday.org for resources, ideas on how to get involved and to share your story. We hope you will share your World Quaker Day experiences with FWCC. It can be very simple—a description, a poem, a few photos, or even a short video taken on a mobile phone. We will post it online for other Friends around the world to see. For instance, the Africa Section will be planting more than five thousand tree seedlings at the Farmers' Training Centre in Lugari Yearly Meeting, Kenya! Our vision is for Friends to have access to a montage of activity of all sorts via FWCC’s websites and the FWCC World Office Facebook page. Please email any items to us with WQD as the subject or post it on the Facebook page or Tweet us at @WorldQuakerDay #WQD2019.
