Mother’s Love

by John D. Wilson

Thank you, Mother, for all you’ve done

And I give God the honor to be your oldest son.

You carried me for nine months and gave me a name.

For many of my Christmases I was blessed with money, toys, and many games.

You changed my diapers and washed me up,

Fed me milk from a bottle and taught me how to drink from a cup;

You taught me how to walk and talk;

Showed me how to eat with a spoon and fork.

You taught me how to do my math and read,

How to cross the street and my ABC’s.

The times we spent together we had so much fun,

Even the times you spanked me and caught me when I tried to run.

The Bible says that every good gift and perfect gift comes from above;

I thank God for my gift, Gracesteen Butler, a Mother with so much love.
