There For Us

by Bilal A. Rahman

Two prisoners confined by the very essence to set us free,

One cell divided by Ms. Opportunity,

Consequence of not getting through to me.

Now trapped and refused to escape your embrace,

Your commitment and smile on your face.

Not moving but on a course to meet my destination

A memory of our love, our reunion, our celebration

How encounters give me hope every day

And our love cemented in the heart with no words to say.

Life without love is meaningless

Like the absence of lips and tongue that constitute no kiss

You and I’ve been there for many years

Fighting fears and holding back tears.

Our continuation is a must

Love’s been there for us.
