A Friendly Thought

by James D. Proctor, Sr.

Today I sat and searched my soul,

Looking for a bit of hidden gold.

I came across a thought of you,

It was the shyest shade of blue.

From seeing it, love is what I got,

Now this may not seem an awful lot.

Until you consider the journey it brings,

To a heart that’s forgotten how to sing.

Then it can be the world’s greatest treasure,

Its natural value has no measure.

For such love not only has a life of its own,

It enhances my life when I’m feeling alone.

Kendra, your love, my strength renews,

I wish all the best in life for you.
