Will I Rise

by Lloyd P. McCaskill

A love through letters is different and strange,
I guess it’s like men out to sea.
You never know when they will come back in a storm,
If they come back at all.
I am in a deep sea trying to hang on,
Sometimes I wonder, is it worth it?
Staying afloat on this piece of driftwood I’m on.
Should I just let go and sink below?
To never love again, to not have a home.
Will my heart turn into a stone?
  Oh, how I groan.
I thank you for the love you’ve shown,
You are my lighthouse, the beacon ray of hope;
Do I hang on, or do I let go?
My life is so hard and cold.
Can a big hug thaw it out and make it whole?
I guess only time will tell.
Can I rise again like Jesus when he fell and rose?
From the dead to conquer death, hell and the grave,
  To live forever more.
Can I? Will I? Will I rise?
