Prisoners are people, too
We have feelings, emotions, wants needs, just like you.
We have been stripped of our freedom, our hopes, even our pride,
No matter where we go there is never any where to run and hide.
Day in and day out we’re told what we can or cannot do,
Knowing if we don’t listen, we know what little we have we’ll lose.
We are often asked how we keep our sanity, and make it from day to
day,
We have learned to believe in each other to help show each other the
way.
There are truly no good days on death row,
But we’re learning, trying to make the best of it, and to let the rest go.
So often we are told this is our home,
Try and imagine a home with so many restrictions and only so long
to talk to loved ones on the phone.
A place where we have to work and hardly get any pay,
And no matter how hard we try, we’re made to feel worthless day after
day!
There are still so many who want to judge, and know it isn’t right,
So we pray and ask God to forgive them, and to show them to the
light.
So many have forgotten us, and have made us feel like we’re “nobodies”,
But no matter how anyone makes us feel, they can never take away
that we are Somebody!
