National Lawyers Guild

Provides free copy of Jailhouse Lawyers handbook. Th is Handbook is a resource for prisoners who wish to file a Section 1983 lawsuit in federal court regarding poor conditions in prison and / or abuse by prison staff. It also contains limited information about legal research and the American legal system. The Handbook is available for free to anyone: prisoners, lawyers, families, friends, & others.

PLN is an independent magazine that provides information about prisoner issues. PLN has a national focus on both state & federal prisoner issues with international coverage as well. PLN covers court access, disciplinary hearings, excessive force, mail censorship, jail litigation, telephone, religious freedom, free speech, prison rape, women prisoners, retaliation, the Prison Reform Act, medical treatment, death penalty, control unit, and more.

If inmates want to submit art to us, they write us fi rst for an agreement and art description forms, which are necessary for submission of work. There is never a cost to inmates and we accept all submissions, with the stipulation that nothing is returned, whether sold or not. The artist gets approximately 50% of the proceeds, after framing, matting costs and any other direct sales costs.
