Why Did It Have To Be Me?

by Peter Papasavvas

Why did it have to be me?
My life seemed so full of joy and
happiness, but now, I have no friends.
lost most of my family.
But most important, I lost my life
Why God, why did it have to be me?
A lot of times, now, since I have so much time,
I do a lot of thinking.
I think about the life I had,
the love of my life,
and things that a loving person would miss,
but most of all, I think about what I lost —
my freedom.
Why God, why did it have to be me?
Don’t think I forgot about what put me here,
the death of an innocent person.
I think about that all the time,
it’s just something I can’t forget.
It never meant to happen, God.
Why did you let this happen?
I guess I’ll never know why I’m here,
but I can promise you one thing…
The day I die… I’m going to Heaven.
..How do I know?
God told me, but He didn’t tell me why.
