Like many people that find themselves imprisoned, maybe
you’ve been cast down and stripped to the very core. You may have
lost loved ones, friends, and those you thought were friends, when
you were sentenced and hauled-off to a cold, hard, society called the
justice system. If so, you may wonder how you’ll ever survive, much
less get back up and dream again.
The loss of a loved one is a tremendous toll and causes undue
mental anguish, especially to those incarcerated. In the darkness of a
cell, loneliness can be overbearing; I’ve felt this deep despair.
We can take a lesson from Paul the Apostle, who was
whipped, lashed, stoned, and cast out. Paul discovered all that hardship
was merely seasons of life, something some people experience
and something to move through. For when God said to Paul, “I am
with you; that is all you need,” my power shows up best in weakness.
Paul knew, God was there for him. He knew, when he was weak, he
was then strong, because God was there: the less he had, the more he
depended and moved closer to God.
Seasons, as our time, come and go. Even if you’ve been
robbed of all that you once were, you can still lift your arms toward
Heaven with the strength that comes from God.
