Ad Hoc Action Group
on Resources for Newcomers/Inquirers

Do you have a passion for outreach and the willingness to serve? Do you have fabulous ideas about how to explain the Quaker way to newcomers? If so, then WE NEED YOU!

Members of the Advancement and Outreach (A&O) Committee want to create a “landing spot” on the BYM website for newcomers and inquirers, providing information and resources tailored specifically to their needs. While the BYM website provides a wealth of information for members/attenders of its Monthly Meetings, we are acutely aware that much more could be offered to newcomers and inquirers who find us via the web.

We want to do this soon...but we really need help! We are asking interested Friends to join us in this effort, becoming part of this “Ad Hoc Action Group on Resources for Newcomers/Inquirers.” The Action Group’s objective is to develop a first draft of content for the newcomer/inquirer “landing spot” by mid-June, in time for review/discussion at the June 19, 2010 A&O Committee Meeting. We anticipate the Action Group’s communications will take place mostly via email, perhaps with an occasional conference call. Relative newcomers to the Quaker way are especially welcome to serve as Action Group volunteers—your perspective would be invaluable!

This short-term mission (should you choose to accept it!) will last from mid- March through mid-June, 2010.

This Action Group will be focused on compiling and/or developing written content tailored to the needs of newcomers and inquirers; therefore, technical/web experience is not necessary.

To volunteer, please contact Tracy Haidar (tracy.rx@comcast.net, 717-633-5478).

Note: we anticipate this will be the first of many A&O Action Groups formed over the course of the coming months & years. If you are interested in A&O but unable to volunteer for this particular effort, please watch for future opportunities!
