Invitation from State College Friends Meeting

State College Friends Meeting
611 E. Prospect Avenue
State College, PA 16801

Dear Yearly Meeting Friends,

We at State College Friends Meeting are eagerly awaiting your visit for Committee Day and Interim Meeting. If you would like hospitality for either Friday or Saturday night or both, please fill out the form and mail it as soon as possible. We would be happy to have you e-mail hansen.peg@gmail.com with your hospitality and childcare needs if you find that more convenient.

We look forward to this opportunity for State College Friends to learn more about how Baltimore Yearly Meeting operates. Because we are so distant from both Philadelphia and Baltimore, we have many members and attenders who do not know very much about Yearly Meeting. Perhaps your committee will be able to use this as an opportunity to recruit members from State College. Please let me know if I can do anything to assist you in this regard. If you would like me to publicize all or a portion of your meeting to our Meeting, please let me know.

On Saturday, our Young Friends for Peace group will be preparing a soup lunch, complete with home-baked rolls. Saturday evening, after a dinner prepared by talented members of our Meeting, we have arranged a program combining Alternatives to Violence Project light and lively activities and slides with a rain forest theme. We are hopeful that if Friend Doug Miller is joining us Saturday he might arrange us into a singing choir as well.

On Sunday Cilla Warhaftig from American Friends Service Committee's Middle Atlantic Region will speak to us about the Military Listening Project. We invite you to stay for worship from 11 a.m. to noon and to join us for soup and sandwiches before departing for home. We also have a small early meeting for worship from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning which you may wish to attend.

We remember attending Interim Meeting several years ago at Homewood Meeting where Friends had arranged a wonderful childcare program. We would like to do the same if we know you are bringing children. Please let us know about your childcare needs as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or special needs, please do not hesitate to call Peg Hansen, who is coordinating arrangements for visitors, at 814-349-5908. State College Friends look forward to welcoming you.

Sincerely,
Peg Hansen
