WelcomeThrough our intervisitation program, we seek to strengthen the Religious Society of Friends and nurture the beloved community of Friends, especially within Friends United Meeting (FUM). We warmly invite you to join us in this effort. While our concern regarding an FUM personnel policy planted the seed for our intervisitation program, that concern is not our program's focus. Rather, as we faced the pain we felt as a result of that policy, we awoke to the fragility of the relations among the yearly meetings and monthly meetings of FUM. We realized that we have not sought the same deep and loving listening with other meetings in FUM that we seek and cherish among ourselves. Therefore, our goal is to encourage, prepare, and support Friends to travel among Yearly Meetings with the faith that we can listen deeply, strengthen our relationships, and build our faith community. Our program assumes that intervisitation will be in all directions and those interested will offer and receive hospitality. George Fox said, "All meet together everywhere, and in your Meetings wait upon the Lord; and take heed of forming words, but mind the Power, and know that which is Eternal, which will keep you all in unity, walking in the Spirit, and will let you see the Lord near you and among you." (Epistle 43) Please join us in this work:If you would like to join in this program either as a visitor or a host, please contact the Ad Hoc Intervisitation Committee at intervisitation@bym-rsf.org. We hope you find the information on this website helpful. The focus of this website is on visiting as part of BYM's intervisitation program. All Friends are always encouraged to visit other meetings wherever they travel, but such visits need not be a formal part of this program. This website provides resources that may also be of interest for those who are not visiting as part of this program. We welcome any comments. |
