Baltimore Yearly Meeting builds and nurtures a strong and vibrant Quaker community across the southern Mid-Atlantic. We seek to build community, grow in the life of the spirit, discern right action, and bear witness in the world. BYM includes Quaker meetings in parts of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. The BYM Office, located in Sandy Spring, MD, provides technical support to local Quaker Meetings and opportunities for Quakers in our region to work, play, serve, learn, and grow spiritually together as Friends.

Workshop on Implicit Bias

Sunday, February 11, 2018
9:00 am10:00 am
Bethesda Friends Meeting (Bethesda, MD)

A few people from the Bethesda Friends Meeting community were able to participate in the Yearly Meeting’s workshop on implicit bias in November and were so impressed by the learning experience that they wanted others in BFM to experience it. And it may be even more powerful the second time around! It is an opportunity to learn how we are imbued with assumptions which skew our actions in ways we may no longer even be aware of. We can become more aware of them by taking time to pause and look them anew. Please join us at 9:00am on Sunday, February 11, in the Music Room, which is in the basement of the SAM Building, across the patio from the Meeting Room. Please come if you possibly can. For details, Jane Meleney Coe (bethesdafm@igc.org, 301-320-5083).
