Welcome to Baltimore Yearly Meeting!
Baltimore Yearly Meeting builds and nurtures a strong and vibrant Quaker community across the Mid-Atlantic. We seek to build community, grow in the life of the spirit, discern right action, and bear witness in the world. BYM includes Quaker meetings in parts of Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The BYM Office, located in Sandy Spring, MD, provides technical support to local Quaker Meetings and opportunities for Quakers in our region to work, play, serve, learn, and grow spiritually together as Friends.
There will be a called Interim Meeting on the 20th of April at 1:30 pm (via Zoom) to discuss and hopefully approve Peace and Social Concerns Committee's recent minute on Ceasefire between Israel and Palestine. The minute received a first reading at Winter Interim Meeting on March 23rd, and Friends present agreed that the matter was too urgent to lay over until June Interim Meeting for a second reading. Join Friends for a day of singing, beginning at 10 am. We will be having a POTLUCK lunch around 12:30. Ruth Fitz will be leading us in her Soulful Singing, with harmonies, followed by your choices from the hymnal & Rise Up Singing (please bring it if you have it!) We will also be chanting, so please come & share your Spirit with us! Come for all or any part of the day! Childcare will be available—though singing will be kid-friendly (please request by 4/4/15) Both shy and sure singers are welcome! This gathering is not about bringing strong singers together—it’s about joining our voices together in Spirit!
